Automation Technician, Axjo America
2023-03-16Under the direct supervision of the Technical Manager, the Maintenance / Automation Engineer will be responsible for repairing and maintaining the computer-controlled systems and robotic devices for injection molding to maximize efficiencies and reduce human intervention.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform routine diagnostic checks on production equipment (IMMs, Auxiliary Equipment, Robots, PLCs
etc.), monitor automated systems, isolate problems and perform repairs. - Troubleshoot automated systems and production equipment (IMMs, Auxiliary Equipment, Robots, PLCs etc.) to determine if problem is mechanical, electrical, or from computer or robotic systems; make repairs and optimize to improve quality and productivity.
- Design and program service control systems for new and existing machinery; recommend upgrades and changes to processes.
- Work with other team members to fine tune equipment and improve machine OEE.
- Reads and interprets blueprints and manuals, use a variety of hand and power tools including electrical meters.
- Deals appropriately with faulty equipment, human error and preventing defects from occurring.
- Attends and participates in various meetings with employees and management.
- Work with maintenance department to develop, track and execute preventative maintenance programs and spare parts inventory.
Physical Demands/Requirements
- Must be able to stand, stoop, reach, grasp, sit or stand for long periods of time, and lift up to a maximum of 50 lbs. safely.
- Noise level in materials area at times can be loud.
- Must be willing and able to abide by all safety policies.
- Willing to travel when needed.
- Full-time day shift, overtime as needed. Possible weekend/holiday work.
- Non-climate-controlled plant environment; standard hazards within a manufacturing plant where safety precautions and personal protective equipment must be maintained at all times.
Requirements
- Knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal programming suite (S7-1200+S7-1500)
- Knowledge of ABB Robotics (and/or other six-axis industrial robots)
- Knowledge of Wittmann 3-Axis Robots is a plus.
- Injection molding/machine tending background is a plus.
- Judgment and decision-making skills, time management, critical thinking.
- Coachable and teachable.
- Strong math, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic skills.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills.
