About us
The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency has approved Axjo’s return system for cable reels, the first market-driven system of its kind in Sweden. The decision confirms that the solution fully complies with the Swedish Packaging Ordinance (2022:1274), the EU’s new PPWR regulation, and Axjo’s strong commitment to sustainability.
The return system ensures that a large share of cable reels are reused and that all packaging placed on the market by Axjo is collected and handled responsibly. The result is less waste, reduced CO₂ emissions, and tangible savings for customers.
“I am extremely proud of this decision. The approval from the Swedish EPA proves that our system is not only sustainable, but also robust and future-proof. For our customers, it means every drum becomes part of a circular business model that is both environmentally and economically beneficial,” says Jacob Nilsson, CEO of Axjo.
The approved return system brings several direct benefits to customers. Thanks to the EPA’s exemption, they are no longer required to pay producer responsibility fees for products supplied by Axjo. At the same time, the need for purchasing new cable reels and single-use packaging is reduced, since the material circulates within the system.
Axjo manages the entire return flow, eliminating waste handling and unnecessary one-way solutions for customers. As an added value, each customer can receive a certificate documenting their actual carbon savings – a concrete proof of climate impact reduction that can be used in sustainability reporting and communication.
“This is a win-win. Our customers save money, avoid administrative work, and can also demonstrate to their own customers that they operate sustainably and in compliance with EU regulations,” says Vedad Mujkic, Area Sales Manager at Axjo.
Axjo’s return system is the only one of its kind on the Swedish market. It combines regulatory approval with cost efficiency and long-term sustainability, marking a concrete step toward a circular economy where resources are reused instead of consumed.
