Axjo and SkrotSmart enter into a partnership for sustainable recycling

Axjo Europe is entering into a strategic partnership with swith the aim of strengthening and simplifying the return system for cable reels. Through this collaboration, a more accessible, efficient, and sustainable flow for reuse is created, contributing to reduced climate impact and increased resource efficiency throughout the value chain.

The partnership enables installers to return empty cable reels to SkrotSmart when delivering other scrap for recycling or sale. This consolidates all recycling in one location, saving time, simplifying logistics, and making it easier to make sustainable choices in everyday operations.

CIRCULAR REUSE REDUCING CARBON FOOTPRINT BY 88.5 PROCENT

With access to SkrotSmart’s facilities across Sweden, from Trelleborg in the south to Umeå in the north, accessibility to Axjo’s circular return system increases significantly. More drop-off locations mean that more cable reels can be returned to the system and reused instead of being replaced with newly manufactured ones.

The sustainability impact is substantial. After nine reuse cycles, a cable reel has an 88.5 percent lower carbon footprint compared to purchasing a new reel each time. By reducing the need for new materials and energy-intensive manufacturing processes, the collaboration contributes to significantly reduced emissions.
